A lot can change in 2 years. In 2018 I was living in the South of Spain and working for a UK Corporate Travel Company. Life couldn’t have been better, until one day I got a call from my manager to ask if I had any plans to move back to the UK. I looked around me at the blue skies, the Mediterranean glistening in the afternoon sun, the dogs lying on the cool tiles taking their siesta and promptly said,’ No, absolutely not.’ Well, it turns out the business I was working for had other plans and needed me back in the UK pronto!
After much deliberation and family discussions, we decided to move back to good old Blighty. My work was very important to me, after 29 years in the travel business, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to hang up my travel hat just yet. So, we packed up, Dave, I, two dogs and a cat. I wasn’t sure how our little Spanish rescue dog was going to cope with the cold English weather, come to think of it, I wasn’t sure I’d be able to cope with the English weather either.
Back in Derbyshire I had well and truly fallen out of love with the travel company I was working for. So when Covid hit I decided to take redundancy and follow my other passion – dogs! Knowing I wanted to work with dogs but not really knowing in what capacity, I started to look around at my options and found there was a clear need for dog care with a more personal touch.
I knew my dogs wouldn’t cope well in a large doggie day care setting and neither would they cope being picked up in a van, driven to a field and let out to run wild with dogs of all different breeds and sizes. What I wanted for my dogs was an exclusive club where dogs are offered care, attention, love and kindness. As good as being with them myself, if not better.
I decided I wanted to be the person to bring this exclusive brand to the market. I spent the summer developing my professional knowledge on all things dog related, from behaviour, handling and First Aid to breed specifics and more.
With certificates and accreditations to be proud of I launched ‘The Private Dog Club. For The Discerning Dog’
For dogs and owners who like the personal touch and where fun, learning and safety are paramount.
